Mayors’ Summit at SXSW

Triangle white Slash white

Civic I/O immerses forward-thinking mayors from around the country with the most innovative technologists, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, and creatives during SXSW.

IN•PUT / OUT•PUT n, 1. In computing, input/output (I/O) is the communication between an information processing system, such as a computer, and the outside world, possibly a human or another processing system.

While innovation in the government and civic sector continues to grow, local leaders still face many challenges. Civic I/O unites mayors and business leaders on all sides to collectively develop solutions for the entrenched societal and governmental issues they face.

Participants will discuss, debate, and share best practices and new ideas on those important issues through panels and roundtables, intimate dinners with fellow mayors, and one-on-one engagements with entrepreneurs. Attendees will experience emerging technologies like autonomous cars firsthand while engaging with startups on the economic development opportunities those technologies unlock.

The second annual event takes place in Austin, Texas, as part of SXSW Interactive, a world-famous event that brings together new ideas, emerging technologies, and a prolific concentration of cross-industry thought leaders from around the world.

Hosted proudly this year by the Office of Mayor Steve Adler and the U.S. Conference of Mayors
